In a bid to improve effective primary healthcare service delivery in Nigeria, Bauchi State is hosting the 2023 Mandatory, Continues Development Project, MCPD, training for Primary Healthcare Tutors in the North East Zone, organized by the Community Health Practitioners Registration Board of Nigeria.

The training aims to equip the Primary Healthcare Tutors with new skills and knowledge, to enable them to discharge their duties efficiently.

Speaking at the event, the Registrar/CEO Community Health Practitioners Registration Board of Nigeria, Alhaji Bashir Idris, restated the board’s commitment towards effective service delivery in primary healthcare across the nation.

The Registrar, who was represented by Director, inspection and accreditation, Malam Abubakar Huda, said Primary Health Tutors are those training community health practitioners, hence the need for them to be undergoing training and seminars to guide and also give them the opportunity to have professional licenses.

In his remarks, the National President, National Association of Community Health Practitioners of Nigeria, Comrade Kabiru Y Ahmed, commends the board for training and retraining of the tutors, which will assist in the delivery of quality healthcare services.

Kabiru Ahmed urged the participants to give adequate attention during the training and to step down what they have learned when they return to their duty posts.

He called on the government to do the needful by employing Community Health Practitioners to fill the existing gaps in the Primary Health Care sub-sector across the nation.

On his part, the Permanent Secretary, Bauchi State Ministry of Health, Alhaji Aliyu Babayo, said the administration of Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, has done so much in improving healthcare service delivery in the state and will continue to do more in the health sector.

The theme for this year’s workshop is “the role of primary healthcare tutors in providing quality knowledge, attitudes and skills to community health practitioners towards effective service delivery in Nigeria”.
