Committee On GBV Pays Courtesy Visit To Zamfara Governor

The Governor Bello Matawalle of Zamfara State has assured his administration’s commitments in the fight against Gender Based Violence (GBV) in the state.

Matawalle stated this while receiving State Steering Committee on GBV headed the First Lady of the state and also a Chairperson of the Committee, Hajiya Aisha Bello Matawalle who paid him a courtesy visit in his office on Thursday, according to statement issued by Zainab Shua’ibu Abdullahi, media aide to Zamfara First Lady.

The Governor who applauded the work of the committee headed by the First Lady in ensuring free violence against women and children in the state.

“I am satisfied with the effort headed by My able wife who is always there for me especially in uplifting the lives of vulnerable group in the state.

“I am aware of your strategies and line up activities to eradicate GBV in the state, your efforts is indeed laudable and appreciative.

“This visit is a timely and welcome development, I consider every member of this committee as a great partner for the success of my administration.

“I appreciate your kind contributions to complement my administration’s policies to move our dear state forward.”

Governor also said the state government will soon come up with new laws against GBV in the state, “We are working with the state house of assembly, to enact various laws against GBV.”

In her remarks, the First Lady Hajiya Aisha Bello Matawallen Maradun said she led the committee to His Excellency’s office to appreciate his contributions towards eradication of violence against women in the state.

“We came to you as a father of the state for a courtesy visit and also seek for your fatherly blessings and advises towards promoting our activities to ensure the GBV free society.

“Your Excellency, with your kind support and contributions, various achievements have so far recorded by our committee in fighting violence against women and children in the state.

“We are here to inform your excellency on the 2021 16 Days Activism against GBV in the state and our annual programmes and activities against the GBV.

During the visit members of the Committee in attendance include Speaker of the State House of Assembly Alhaji Nasiru Mu’azu Magarya, Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Kabiru Balarabe (Sardaunan Dan’isa), State Commissioner for Religious Affairs, Sheikh Tukur Jengebe, among others.
