The Coalition of Northern Groups has thrown its weight behind Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State, following his recent statement on the controversial Tax Reform and other Federal Government policies.
The group announced their support during a condolence visit to the Governor over the death of his stepmother, Hajiya Hauwa Duguri.
According to the group, Governor Mohammed’s statement reflected the sentiments of the average northerner, which has been disproportionately affected by the administration’s economic policies.
The group emphasized that the Governor’s remarks were made in good faith within a democratic framework and represented the legitimate concerns of his constituents.
The Coalition of Northern Groups also condemned the presidency’s threat to Governor Mohammed, describing it as unjust and dismissive.
The group urged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to prioritize addressing the country’s economic and security challenges instead of resorting to personal attacks and dismissive rhetoric.
In response, Governor Mohammed appreciated the group’s support, stating that he was committed to advocating for the welfare of his people.
He emphasized that his administration would continue to work tirelessly to address the challenges facing the state and the Northern region as a whole.
The Governor’s stance on the Tax Reform and other Federal Government policies has sparked a heated debate, with many Nigerians weighing in on the issue.
