Clerks of State Assemblies strategize for smooth implementation of financial autonomy

The Forum of Clerks of State Legislatures of Nigeria (FOCON) Clerks has that it’s members have strategized for the smooth implementation of financial autonomy to State Legislatures across the Country.

The Chairperson of the Forum who is also the Clerk of the Delta State House of Assembly Mrs (Barr) Lyna Aliya Ocholor made the statement shortly after the meeting of the Forum which took place in Asaba, Delta State on Saturday.

She explained that the Forum has put all modalities in place to ensure all challenges that may arise on the implementation are tackled.

According to her, the meeting resolved all State Legislatures without updated version of Funds Management and Bill should get it and ensure all modalities for the implementation of the financial autonomy is put in place.

On the ongoing review of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Mrs Ocholor said that the Forum has submitted its position paper to the National Assembly’s Committees.

The Chairperson also announced that the Clerks are working round the clock in order to have a uniform standing orders for all the State Houses of Assembly in the Country.
