In an effort to straighten the fight against corruption and financial mismanagement, Governor Bala Muhammad of Bauchi state has Signed into law the Bauchi State Independent Public Complaints and Accountability Commission bill.
During the signing ceremony at Government House, Bauchi, Governor Mohammed expressed concern over recent reports of financial mismanagement involving some state functionaries.
He emphasized that the new law will tackle corruption, ghost workers syndrome, misappropriation, and other financial irregularities head-on.
He added that The commission will provide a platform for the public to report complaints and ensure that those in power are held accountable for their actions.
The Governor stated that The establishment of the commission demonstrates his resolve to address the issue of corruption, which has long plagued the state.
Earlier while presenting the bill, The Speaker Bauchi state House of Assembly Abubakar Sulaiman Opined that the New move is expected to boost public confidence in the government and promote good governance.
He Affirmed that The Bauchi State Independent Public Complaints and Accountability Commission will investigate and address various forms of financial mismanagement, including ghost workers syndrome, which has been a significant challenge for the state.
Our correspondent reports that The New Law will replace the Existing Law that Established The Bauchi State Anti-corruption Commission which is being questioned in Court pending to the judgement.
