Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed Abdulkadir has announced the scrapping of the Ministry of Local and Chieftaincy Affairs in line with the Supreme Court judgment granting autonomy to LGAs in the country.

The Governor also announced the removal of Dr. Adamu Sambo Umar as the Commissioner of Health for what he described as, “rejigging of the machinery of governance for more results.”

Bala Mohammed spoke on Monday during the swearing-in of three newly appointed Commissioners and a Special Adviser on Security Matters, held inside the EXCO Chambers of the Governor’s Office.

He stressed, “We have to rejig the cabin in order to achieve the set objectives of the administration. We need to bring in fresh blood, brains with fresh ideas of how to move the state ahead positively.”

The Governor explained, “The former Commissioner of Health was not dropped because of any infractions; it was just part of the reorganization of governance.”

He added, “Very soon, we will find a way to fix him in government where he will be most relevant and more active.”

Bala Mohammed then charged the new Commissioners to immediately settle down to business by ensuring they studied all the handover notes left in their respective Ministries to be able to catch up with the speed at which the administration is going.

The Governor then announced the portfolios of the three Commissioners: Zaibab Babba Takko, Women Affairs and Child Development; Dr. Sani Mohammed Dambam, Health; and Engr. Mohammed bn Abdulkadir, Commerce and Industries, while Dr. AIG Ahmed Abdulrahman (rtd) is the Special Adviser on Security Matters.
