Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Mohammed, has inaugurated 500 cadets and traffic marshals who completed rigorous training under the Bauchi State Road Traffic Agency (BAROTA).
Speaking during the Passing out Parade (POP), the governor praised their commitment, discipline, and hard work, noting that their training has prepared them to serve as a new generation of leaders.
Governor Mohammed emphasized the importance of BAROTA, established to address the growing challenges of road transport management, safety, and law enforcement in the state.
The agency’s functions include traffic law enforcement, prevention and enforcement, as well as traffic management and control.
The governor highlighted BAROTA’s powers, including the ability to arrest individuals suspected of committing traffic offenses and to impound vehicles causing obstruction on highways.
The governor assured the cadets and traffic marshals that his administration remains committed to supporting BAROTA. And pledged to provide necessary resources, training, and infrastructure to ensure their success.
Governor Mohammed also announced plans to employ more personnel to reach a target of 2,000 staff members, emphasizing the importance of integrity, professionalism, and compassion in their duties.
Governor Mohammed warned the cadets and traffic marshals against luxury, indiscipline, and abuse of opportunity, stressing that his administration will not tolerate corrupt tendencies.
He assured them of a free hand to operate but cautioned them to be alive to their responsibilities.
The governor directed local government chairmen to collaborate with BAROTA to establish local government offices for efficient coordination and operation of the agency throughout the state.
In various goodwill remarks, representatives from the FRSC, Ministry of Works and Transport, and the Speaker of the Bauchi State House of Assembly congratulated the 500 cadets and traffic marshals on their inauguration.
