This decision was made known by the State Governor, Senator Bala Muhammad, during a facility tour to assess the condition of the camp on July 30, 2024.
The Governor’s visit revealed the dire state of the camp, which has been in disrepair for some time. Senator Bala Muhammad expressed concern over the inadequate facilities and infrastructure, which have hindered the smooth operation of the NYSC program in the state.
Governor Bala Muhammad emphasized the importance of the NYSC scheme in promoting national unity and development, noting that the rehabilitation of the camp is crucial in providing a conducive environment for corps members to undergo their orientation and training.
The comprehensive rehabilitation will include the renovation of buildings, upgrade of infrastructure, and provision of modern facilities. The Governor assured that the project will be completed in record time to ensure that corps members enjoy a comfortable and productive stay at the camp.
He added that the rehabilitation of the camp is part of the state government’s efforts to improve the welfare of corps members and support the NYSC scheme, as well as youth development and national service.
In a thankful remark, the State Coordinator of the Scheme, Mrs. Rifkatu Daniel, opined that the rehabilitation of the NYSC camp in Wailo Village will not only benefit corps members but also contribute to the economic growth of the local community. The project will create jobs, stimulate local economic activity, and enhance the overall development of the area.
