Bauchi Speaker flags off free medical eye services in Ningi

The Speaker of the Bauchi State House of Assembly Rt. Hon. Abubakar Y Suleiman has flagged off free medical eye care services he sponsored in collaboration with Al-basar Foundation for people of Ningi Central Constituency in Gidan Baki Primary Health Centre, today.

Speaking during the the flag off, the Speaker explained that his decision to partner with Al-basar Foundation’s Makka Eye Clinic Bauchi for the free eye care services, is based on his effort to ameliorate the hardship being faced by people of his Constituency suffering from eye diseases.

He stated that many people are suffering from one type of eye disease or the other but due to economic hardship and poverty they cannot afford healthcare services which is leading to blindness and visual impairment of many people.

“This is why I said this year, my annual free medical care services, which I launched last year in Maje, should be on eye care so that my people will get free treatment for all their eye diseases.

“I commend the philanthropy and kindness of Al-basar Foundation to my Constituency. I pray to Almighty Allah to reward them abundantly.” The Speaker said.

Rt. Hon. Abubakar Y Suleiman also stated that he will sponsor surgery for all the 77 people diagnosed with cataract cases including their transportation, medication and feeding in Bauchi.

On a 9-month old baby diagnosed with retinal detachment during the exercise, the Speaker direct the immediate transfer of the baby to Kano for surgeries in which he will pay off the bill for the surgery and medicine so that the baby will grow a healthy life to the happiness and satisfaction of his parent and the community.

In his remarks, the Special Adviser to the Speaker on Political Matters, Alhaji Isah Haruna Tiffi explained that the philanthropic services of the Speaker in the past, is what endeared him to the people of Ningi thus they entrusted him with the position he is holding today.

He added that the Constituency and the Emirate is proud of him for his numerous achievements and the good name he is building for Ningi which is seen from the testimonies being received about him from all parts of the country.

He urged the people of Ningi to continue praying for him so that Almighty Allah will give him more wisdom and strength to bring more developmental initiatives to the people.

Speaking Earlier, the Manager of Makkah Eye Clinic Bauchi Dr Abdullahi Badamasi Muhammad explained that their partnership with the Speaker to carryout the free medical eye care services in Ningi Central Constituency is part of their corporate social responsibility.

According to him, among the 350 people treated, those with little cases and glaucoma were given drugs, those who need glasses were given and 77 people diagnosed with cataract cases will undergo surgery in Bauchi on Thursday which the Speaker sponsored.

He also urged the Speaker to sponsor a baby diagnosed with retinal detachment during the exercise to their Hospital in Kano save him from going blind.

While commending the Speaker for showing love and care to his people, Dr Abdullahi Badamasi urged the people of Ningi to pray fervently for the Speaker and the Foundation.

Some beneficiaries of the scheme, Malam Abubakar from Gadar Maiwa, Lami Baba from Ningi and Tukur Abdu from Lumbu who are suffering from different types of eye ailments for many years commended the Speaker for coming to their rescue.

While praying for him and the Foundation, they express their satisfaction and pleasure with good representation of the Speaker and promise to continue praying and supporting him at all times.
