The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Bauchi State Council has described the death of Raymond Dokpesi Chairman of Ray Power/AIT who died on Monday as a great loss not only to his family but the media cycle and the country in general.

A statement issued by the council secretary, Isah Garba Gadau stated that Dokpesi’s demise is a great loss to the pen profession in the country and the world.

He explained that Dokpesi left an indelible foot print in the media industry and development in general which only gifted people can emulate him.

“The news of his death came as great shock to us. He was an impactful media mogul. He was among the first to establish private broadcast media in the country which helped to champion objectivity in the broadcast industry.

“His media outfits have also employed a lot of Nigerians which is good for the country. We urged his family to sustain the media business by managing it well, if they really want to support development in the country.

DAAR Communications Group Managing Director, Tony Akiotu, said the late businessman had been ill prior to his death.

He, however, explained that he was on his journey to full recovery before he fell and died during routine exercise last Monday.

Bauchi NUJ called on Federal Government to support the business of the late broadcaster so that more youth and women may be employed.
