The Executive Chairman of Bauchi Local Government Area, Honorable Mahmood Babamaji Abubakar, has distributed medical consumables and hospital equipment worth millions of naira to ten health facilities within the local government. The gesture is aimed at strengthening healthcare delivery and complementing the effort of Governor Bala Mohammed in revitalizing the health sector.
Speaking during the distribution, Honorable Mahmood Babamaji Abubakar explained that the support came in response to requests from various health facilities. He noted that the intervention also reflects the encouragement and backing Bauchi Local Government has continued to enjoy from Governor Bala Mohammed, the Federal Government, and other partners working in the health sector.
In addition to the facility support, the ALGON Chairman, who also doubles as Bauchi Local Government Council Chairman, presented medical consumables to the diphtheria camp at the Sir Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital. Receiving the items, the Chief Medical Director, Professor Yusuf Bara, commended the chairman for his thoughtfulness and assured that the items will be put to effective use in saving lives.
Honorable Mahmood Babamaji Abubakar further extended his humanitarian outreach to the Bauchi Correctional Center. At the facility, he presented consumable items to support the healthcare needs of inmates, stressing that every individual deserves access to quality healthcare regardless of their circumstances.
At the ceremony, the Director of Primary Health Care in the Local Government, Surveyor Saidu Jahun, who is also the Galadiman Bauchi, lauded the initiative of the chairman. He described the gesture as timely and impactful, urging the management of the benefiting health facilities to utilize the items efficiently for the benefit of the people.
The distribution exercise has been widely applauded by stakeholders across the local government area, who see it as a demonstration of responsive leadership. They noted that the intervention will go a long way in boosting healthcare services, particularly at the grassroots, and further consolidating the state government’s reform agenda in the health sector.
