In his effort to mitigate the suffering of physically challenged persons in his Constituency, member representing Duguri/Gwana Constituency in the Bauchi State House of Assembly Hon. Bala Abdullahi Dan has disbursed tricycle-wheelchairs donated to him by Beautiful Gate Handicapped People Centre Jos to constituents living with disability.

Speaking during the disbursement ceremony which took place in Duguri of Alkaleri Local Government Area on Friday, the Member said that people living with disability face numerous challenges in their life especially for the fact that most of them are from the poor family and as a result, many of them don’t go to school or engage in trades and businesses because of the condition they found themselves.

He added that the physically challenged are the most ignored people in the society although they are the people with special needs, hence the reason he decided to facilitate the donation in order to impact positively on their lives so that they can attain their full potentials like every human being on earth.

Hon. Bala Abdullahi Dan who is the Chairman House Committee on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs assured that he will do everything possible to support the education and empowerment of the disabled so that some of them can engage in trades, artisanship and other businesses in order to earn a living rather than engaging in begging.

He expressed the profound gratitude of the people of Duguri/Gwana Constituency and Alkaleri Local Government Area to the City Gate Handicapped People Centre Jos for the magnanimous donation, saying for the Centre to have discovered the Constituency and gave the huge donation without political, religious or regional consideration, speaks volume of the integrity, magnanimity, love, philanthropy and selfless humanitarian services of the Centre.

While urging the beneficiaries to make good use of the donation by going back to school and engaging in many economic activities in order to earn a legitimate livelihood, the Lawmaker stated that his partnership with City Gate Handicapped People Centre will be strengthened so that they can do a lot together to help people especially those with special needs.

In his remark, the Director of Beautiful Gate Handicapped People Centre Jos Barrister Ayuba Burki Gufwan reiterated the commitment and desire of the Centre in improving the quality of lives of the disabled persons by ensuring that they enjoy their full rights and privileges as citizens of the State.

According to him, the Centre in the past, has provided such assistance to over 1500 disabled in the State.

Some of the beneficiaries who spoke during the occasion expressed their happiness and gratitude to Hon. Bala Abdullahi Dan and the Beautiful Gate Handicapped People Centre Jos for the donation which they say will improve their wellbeing.
