A Bauchi based group, Challenge Fund for Youth Employment, CFYE has called on the federal government to action to end the current economic hardship faced by Nigerians.
The group’s Project Coordinator, Abdulwahab Abubakar made this plea on Saturday at a youth & women employment training and advocacy event in Bauchi.
Abdulwahab who explained that the event aimed at igniting change and driving economic growth, brought together over three hundred participants.
He emphasized “We converged three hundred young people across more than ten communities of Bauchi state around five local government to empower this young people with the still needed to thrive and to be able to leave a sustainable life.
“This move became necessary considering the economic hardship affecting Nigerians, so it is good to empower them to be independent.”
While adding that CFYE organized the training with a view to empower young people with skills to sustain life in their various communities, he insisted that “The Nigerian youth are ready to be agents of change as they show the zeals to take back the training to their various communities.”
He expressed hope that the training will provide permanent solutions to the Youth and Women in Nigeria to better their future.
On his part, the Country Director Follow the Money Nigeria and Chairman of Spotlight for Transparency and Accountability, Mu’azu Alhaji also spoke at the event highlighting the importance of harnessing the potential of Nigeria’s youth population.

He noted that “More than sixty percent of the population of the country are young persons. If the country can be able to explore the potentials of these young people, as the giant of Africa we can be able to lead the world in terms of innovations in Agriculture and other sectors.
“Nigeria as a country we are suffering with the inflation in that regard we can be able to use these young people to strengthen our economy.
“Mu’azu expressed concern that the national government is not giving the youth the chance needed to showcase their talent especially in the national executive council.
“Despite constituting about sixty percent of the country’s population, young people are completely marginalized when it comes to making decisions. It is high time to understand that young Nigerians need to be in the system.”
He added youth to equip themselves with relevant soft skills to position themselves equal to the task of the competitive world.
Muazu urged the Bauchi State youth and women participants at the empowerment training to use the skills gained to better themselves and the society.
Speaking on behalf of the participants, Na’ima Gidado appreciated Challenge Fnd Youth Employment for the training, promising to engage in the farming system.
She also called on the government at all levels to provide job opportunities for youth to address youths restiveness in the society.
Arewa Punch reported that about three hundred young men and women from about ten local government areas that include Bauchi, Dass, Darazo, Ningi, Tafawa Balewa and Ganjuwa local council etc benefited from the training.
The training with support of Thrive Agric and Crust Microfinance Bank empowered the participants with starter tools.
