:As Jatau led govt officials for condolence visit
Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed of Bauchi state on Monday described the death of a former Secretary to the State Government during the second republic, Alh. Shekarau Umar (Magajin Malam Katagum) as a great lost to the state and its people.
The governor made this known when he visited the Emir of Katagum, Alhaji Umar Farouk and the family of the deceased in Azare town of Katagum Local Government Area of the state.
Governor Bala Mohammed who spoke through his deputy, Mohammed Auwal Jatau recalled that late Alhaji Shekarau Umar contributed positive towards the development and progress of Bauchi state and Nigeria in general.
He describes the deceased as humble and honest person who impacted positively to the lives of citizens and extended his condolences to the immediate family, Katagum Emirate and other well wishers.
“On behalf of the Government and people of Bauchi State, we are here to pay our condolences over the demise of an elder statesman and a patriotic citizen, Alhaji Shekarau Umar, this lost is not only for the family, but to the entire people of the state.
On his part, the Emir of Katagum, Alhaji Umar Farouk expressed gratitude to Governor Bala Mohammed through his deputy, Mohammed Auwal Jatau for the condolence visit and prayed Almighty Allah to reward him abundantly.
The Deputy Governor who was accompanied for the condolence visit by the state PDP chairman, Alhaji Hamza Koshe Akuyam and other government officials was received in Azare by the Caretaker Committee Chairman of Katagum Local Government Area, Alhaji Umar Hassan.
