Bauchi State Government has rewarded Daben kasuwa community in Ganjuwa Local Government with 200 bags of rice and Millet in appreciation of their patriotism.
The move comes after a trends on social media shows a truck carrying a food stuff that fell close to the village and people vigilantly guarded the truck to avoid looting.
In an event unprecedented in recent history, residents of multiple Nigerian cities have resorted to mass looting of food warehouses and food trucks in recent days, as hunger and anger over rising food prices reach a boiling point.
Handing over the bags of rice donated, Governor Bala Muhammad Abdulkadir who was represented by The state commissioner of Culture and Tourism Abdu Hassan Said Bauchi State Government is proud of Daben kasuwa community for the selfless act.
The Governor commended the people of Daben kasuwa especially youth for writing the name of the Local Government and the state with a golden ink considering the trend of food stuff looting around the country.
Receiving the food stuff Sarkin Daben kasuwa Malam Sanusi Sale thanked the Governor for the gesture adding that the Community has a record of zero crime where people live in peace with one another.
He used the medium to call on government to provide the community with basic amenities such as portable drinking water, secondary school, electricity and standard healthcare facilities.
