Bauchi State House of Assembly Committee on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs calls on Local Government Councils to ensure that welfare of workers is taken care of so as to improve condition of service for good results.

The Chairman of the Committee Hon. Bala Abdullahi Dan made the call when he led his colleagues to an oversight tour to Kirfi and Alkaleri Local Government Areas, today.

He emphasizes on the need for Local Government Councils to sanitize their workforce, ensure that all workers go to their places of duty and work hand in hand with them in order to ensure optimal service delivery.

Hon. Bala Abdullahi Dan who is the Member representing Duguri/Gwana Constituency, stated that they embarked on the oversight visit to the Local Government Councils so as to assess the implementation of many developmental projects and programmes initiated by the Administration of His Excellency Senator Bala Abdulkadir Muhammad across the State and to build working rapport with the Councils in order to take dividends of democracy to the grassroot.

He urged workers and councillors to give the chairmen of the Councils maximum cooperation especially in the ongoing verification exercise across all Local Government Areas.

While pledging that the House will support the Chairmen to address their numerous problems, the Chairman assured the Councils of the readiness of the Assembly to partner with them in all ramifications so as to improve the wellbeing of people of the State.

In his remarks, the Chairman Caretaker Committee of Kirfi Local Government Area Hon. Abdulkadir Umar Dewu told the Committee that Kirfi Local Government Area is backward in all aspects of development ranging from infrastructure, education, health and social welfare, urging the Honourable House to come to support the Local Government by taking up their problems and work with the State Government with a view to solving them.

While commending Governor Bala Abdulkadir Muhammad and Northeast Development Commission for the ongoing construction of Kirfi-Gombe-Abba road which is critical to the development of the Local Government, he lamented how many communities in the Local Government are suffering from incessant flooding annually and lack of access roads which halt their socioeconomic development.

On the ongoing verification of workers, Hon. Abdulkadir Umar Dewu said that he found many shocking scandals in the payroll of the Local Government and threatens to sack any worker that ran from his duty post and those who are fraudulently included in the payroll so that bonafide indigenes of Kirfi who are ever ready to serve will be employed.

On his part, the Chairman Caretaker Committee of Alkaleri Local Government Hon. Bala Ibrahim described the visit of the Committee to Alkaleri as timely and very important because the Committee has direct link to all Local Government Areas and their coming will not only help the Council in smooth running of its duties but also make sure the right thing is being done.

He assured the Committee of his commitment to implement the policies and development agenda of Governor Bala Abdulkadir Muhammad especially for the fact that he is a proud son of the Local Government.
