Bauchi Assembly Committee On Local Government Tours Dass, Bogoro, Tafawa Balewa, Seeks Partnership With Councils For Grassroot Development

In continuation of its oversight visit to all Local Government Areas of the State, the Bauchi State House of Assembly Committee on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs paid visit to Dass, Tafawa Balewa and Bogoro Local Government Areas today.

In his separate remarks at the local government secretariats, the Chairman of the Committee Hon. Bala Abdullahi Dan seeks for collaboration with the local government councils to bring more developmental policies to communities at the grassroots.

He stated that the aim of the visit is in fulfilment of their constitutional mandate of oversight in order scrutinize the implementation of policies, laws and programmes legislated by the Honourable House by the local government councils so as to actualize the aim and objectives of government at the local levels.

Hon. Bala Dan who is also the member representing Duguri/Gwana Constituency, expresses the readiness and commitment of the Assembly and the Committee towards addressing contemporary challenges confronting the local government councils especially on security matters.

The Chairman commended the Councils for their efforts to overcome the security problem in their areas which he said complement the efforts being made by the State Government to tackle security challenges across the State.

In their separate remarks , the Council Chairmen of Bogoro Markus Bitrus and his Tafawa Balewa counterpart Samaila Wakili said the oversight tour would put them on their toes to do more for the people in their local areas as well as assured of giving all the necessary support to the committee to achieve its mandate.

Meanwhile, the Committee paid a visit to the of Emir of Dass Usman Bilyaminu Othman at his Palace in Dass.

Speaking during the visit, the Emir thanked the Honourable Members for the visit and their efforts and contributions in the development of the State, urging them to support Governor Bala Muhammad’s policies and programmes regardless of their party affiliations.
