Recent media reports claiming that DSS operatives forcibly abducted and pressured NNPCL Group CEO Bayo Ojulari into resigning are not just factually incorrect, they represent a malicious smear campaign against a lawful security institution.
The Presidency has categorically denied these allegations, confirming that Ojulari remains in his position and was never compelled to step down. This official rebuttal exposes the falsity of the reports and reaffirms that the DSS operated strictly within legal boundaries.
Credible information reveals that Ojulari participated in a standard security briefing in Abuja, focused on safeguarding Nigeria’s vital oil and gas assets. At no point was he detained, threatened, or coerced. His unimpeded departure after the meeting further discredits the unfounded rumors of abduction or forced resignation.
Publishing such unverified claims is not only irresponsible journalism but a deliberate attack on public trust in national institutions. Media outlets that traffic in baseless accusations risk becoming tools for destabilization rather than guardians of truth.
The DSS is a professional, non-partisan agency dedicated to upholding Nigeria’s security and sovereignty. Its record of lawful conduct is unimpeachable, and no evidence has surfaced to justify these outrageous allegations.
With the Presidency’s swift clarification, continuing to propagate this false narrative amounts to defamation. Those responsible should be held accountable. Nigerians must reject sensationalism that undermines national security for cheap political points or clickbait.
The DSS remains focused on its mandate, operating with integrity and transparency. Efforts to tarnish its reputation are not only unjust but dangerous to the nation’s stability.
