Bagudu visits Birnin Kebbi Kara Market over fire incident, commiserates with victims

Kebbi State Governor , Senator Abubakar Atiku Bagudu has commiserated with Kara market shop owners in Birnin Kebbi over the fire incident which gutted some shops in the market last week.

The governor who was in the market this Monday to inspect some of the affected places in the market, expressed shock over the incident.

He told the victims that it was an unfortunate tragedy destined by God , urging them to take solace in Allah.

He prayed Allah to prevent recurrence of another disaster in the market.

Bagudu promised that the government will look into the situation with a view to providing assistance to enable them return back to their business.


Responding, the Chairman of Timber and Wood sellers , Alhaji Kabiru Liman expressed happiness over the sympathy visit by the governor.

He particularly thanked the governor for his assuarances to assist them recoup their losses.

Liman lamented that over 10 shops were destroyed by the inferno estimated at seventy five million naira.

He averred ‘ The loss from the fire is significant, a timber seller whose goods just arrived , lost everything to the fire .

‘ He told me that, over ten million naira of his goods he bought have gone ‘.

Also Atiku Abubakar Ciroma, the Chairman of ‘Yan Sakai, said his people have lost over twelve stalls to the inferno with goods of millions of naira .

” The fire started around 3 pm , our food products worth over forty million naira are gone . Our Guinea corn, maize, millet and beans have all perished.

‘ We are appealing for Government’s intervention to assist us please , even though the governor is here today to sympathise with us.

‘ I must sincerely thank the governor for coming to assess the level of destruction, hoping that he would assist us ‘, he begged.

The Governor was accompanied by Commissioner of Finance, Hon Ibrahim Muhammed Augie, Hayatu Bawa, Hon Commissioner for Environment and Solid Minerals Development as well as Alhaji Musa Yaro ( Enabo) the Personal Assistant to the Governor among others .
