Bagudu signs Kebbi’s 2023 N166.985bn appropriation bill into law

Kebbi State Governor, Senator, Abubakar Atiku Bagudu, CON, on Thursday signed the state’s 2023 budget of N166,985,075,110.21k billion into law.

Speaking at the ceremony in Birnin Kebbi, Bagudu recalled that the appropriation bill was presented to the State House of Assembly some few weeks ago.

He said, ” I must appreciate and commend the efforts of the assembly particularly the passage of the budget expeditiously.

”I must also extoll the commitment of the members of the assembly for their concern to the even socio-economic development of the state.”

The Chairman of the APC Governors’ Forum also noted the sterling contributions of the Ministry of Budget and Economic Planing, MDAS, NGOs and CSOs towards the preparation and speedy passage of the budget and the processes that preceded it therein.

He said that the state has continued to record tremendous infrastructural development in the last seven years and more would be done in this direction.

Bagudu said that the State has been among the leading states in the World Bank assisted SIFTAS programme up to 2021.

He said that the state had also garnered garlands from the bank , saying that these milestones would continue to be observed and sustained.

The governor was also elated that Kebbi State had tuned its budget cycle to be between January to December.

He recalled that hitherto, budgets were often passed mid year across the country and at the federal level.

”This is an achievement for APC and President Muhammadu Buhari, saying that this has stabilized national development.

Bagudu appealed to the assembly to extend its usual support to the incoming administration, saying that the 2023 budget would be implemented by two administrations.

Earlier, the Speaker, Kebbi State House of Assembly, Abubakar Muhammad Lolo told the Governor that the House passed the budget on Friday 22/12/2022.

‘ Today the members of the House are here to present the 2023 budget of 166,985,075,110.21k for your assent ‘, he said.

The Deputy Speaker, Usman Ankwai Zuru, members of Kebbi State House of Assembly, the Secretary to the State Government, SSG, Babale Umar Yauri, mni, Acting Head of Service Alhaji Safiyanu Garba Bena, Commissioners and Special Advisers attended the ceremony.
