About 200 women are set to undergo a two-week skill acquisition training on various skills for self-reliance.
The program It aims to address lingering economic hardship among women in Bauchi State.
Speaking during the launching ceremony held at Prestige International School, the State Coordinator of Arewa Cohesion for Peace, Unity, and Development Initiative, Alhaji Abdul Ibrahim, said the forum is determined to change the living conditions of people.
According to the organization, which was founded by the former Governor of Sokoto State, Attahiru Bafarawa, months ago in Kaduna, it is poised to make a difference by investing in entrepreneurship for youths and women.
Alhaji Abdul Ibrahim urged the beneficiaries to use the opportunity to change their lives and to benefit others by sharing what they learn with their communities.
In her address, the State Women Leader of the organization, Hajiya Sa’adatu Aminu Yahaya, explained that the selected women will be trained on the production of air freshener, liquid soap, milk candy, local ready-to-use food (“turn brown food”), and “Turaren wuta” (fire perfume).
She distanced the program from any political affiliation, tribalism, or sectionalism, adding that it’s a neutral effort to enhance the living conditions of the Northern population.
Some of the beneficiaries who spoke to newsmen appreciated the organization and its partners and promised to actualize the goal of the initiative.
Our correspondent reports that the Arewa Cohesion for Peace, Unity, and Development Initiative has partnered with Antanzil and Prestige International Schools to deliver the skills acquisition training program.
