Anniversary : My administration won’t be distracted by campaigns of calumny, vows Dr Nasir Idris

Kebbi State Governor, Dr Nasir Idris, Kauran Gwandu, says his administration will not be distracted by some ongoing nefarious campaigns of calumny including those by the opposition.

The Kauran Gwandu spoke in Birnin Kebbi on Tuesday at a special Walimat held at Presidential Banquet Hall organized by the Kebbi State Government to mark his first anniversary in office.

He said, “Some anti-progress forces and naysayers have been busy publishing some negative stories and false information about our people-oriented administration.

“These failed, arm-chair critics are not happy with the myriad of achievements we have attained in the last one year.

“These unwarranted and unpatriotic criticisms will not in any way deter us from the humbly course we have taken to take Kebbi to greater heights.

“Those in the blind opposition are just jealous of our modest feats in all sectors of the economy in fulfillment of the various promises we made to the law-abiding and peaceful citizens of the state.”

Dr Idris also vowed to sustain the happy trajectory of development his administration has taken to make Kebbi State on par with its contemporaries in the comity of states.

The Kauran Gwandu added that his administration was not owing any salaries , pensions or gratuity upto 2024.

Similarly, the Governor said that Kebbi State Government was neither owing any bank, nor has it taken any bank draft for the ongoing construction of projects in the State.

“The bank managers should testify against or for me if I am lying ..We are open and transparent in whatever we are doing.

“We will sustain this just as we will continue to spend the money of Kebbi State for the people of Kebbi state as the money belongs to them, ” ” the governor promised.

He also stated that he has never awarded any contract as contracts always followed due process and they are vetted and approved only by the State Executive Council.

Dr Idris acknowledged the tremendous support his administration has been receiving from the Ulamas, traditional rulers, state House of Assembly, APC leadership and membership and the generality of the people of the state.

The Special Adviser on Religious Affairs ,Engineer Imrana Usman acknowledged the tremendous support of the Governor to the newly created Ministry for religious.

According to him, the Zakaat and Hisbah Boards were also inaugurated and given financial support by the Governor to carry out various activities to assist the less privileged in the society.

He also affirmed that the governor collaborated with the Islamic Qatar Foundation to construct 105 mosques and boreholes across the state among others.

Engineer Imranah Usman also thanked the governor for giving out palliatives worth million of naira to people through the Ministry of Religious Affairs during Ramadan Fast.

During the event, Islamic Scholars such as Malam Isma’ila Yauri, Malam Umar Malisa,Malam Muktar, Malam Mamuda Gari delivered preaching on various topics on leadership and followership .

Earlier in the evening, a novelty football match organised as part of activities to celebrate one year anniversary of the Governor in office was played between the state Executives and Legislatures .

Governor Nasir Idris,the National President of NLC,NUT ,government officials and politicians were at the FIFA Stadium, Birnin Kebbi to watch the game which ended 2-0 in favour of the Legislatures.
