About 20 Almajiris of Markazi Centre for Islamic Knowledge, under Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi Foundation, have benefited from an empowerment program, sponsored by Al-muhibba Foundation, a non governmental organization in Bauchi.
Speaking at the occasion, the founder of the foundation and Bauchi State First Lady, Hajiya Aishatu Bala Muhammad, said the project is aimed at taking Almajiri children off the street by empowering them with start up packs to start small scale businesses so as to become financially independent and self reliant.
Hajiya Aishatu Bala Muhammad, said the gesture would also help eradicate poverty among the younger ones.
She called on the Almajiri teachers to teach them how to take care of themselves and ensure that their environment and clothes are always clean for them to stay healthy.
Aishatu Bala Muhammad advised the teachers to limit the number of the enrolled students in order to properly monitor them.
She used the forum to call on parents that send their children to Tsangaya Schools to be visiting them them on quarterly basis to know their conditions.
In his good will message, Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi, represented by Malam Sulaiman Kobi, commended the first lady for her efforts in assisting the less privileged in the society and urged her to maintain the spirit.
