To boost efficiency and productivity among government agencies in Adamawa State, the State Planning Commission, has organized a one day workshop on Network Map to key Ministries, Departments and Agencies, MDAs.
Executive Chairman of the Planning Commission, Dr. Mary Paninga, had during the workshop at the commission’s conference hall, lamented poor understanding of MDA linkages and influence.
Dr. Paninga, said most government MDAs only rely on government budget for developmental activities, while there are several windows to trigger or initiate conversations with donor partners to scale up their resources.
The Executive Chairman, who said that many Ministries, Departments and Agencies become redundant due to poor knowledge of the Network Map trajectory, explained that the workshop is organized to get the top officials of the MDAs abreast with ways to interact, attract and leverage on development partners to support them in achieving their planned activities.
She explains, “The Net-Map helps organizations, people and individuals plan, understand, visualize, discuss and improve situations in which many different actors influence outcomes.
“It is also a powerful tool for visual mapping techniques designed to facilitate communication, collaboration and knowledge sharing within teams and organizations”.
The resource person and Principal Special Adviser to governor Fintiri on Civil Society Organizations, Mr. Yohanna Moses, said Net Map is a research tool that helps people understand, visualize and improve their situations, for a better result.
Mr. Yohanna, who is also the Executive Director of the Environmental Care Foundation, hopes that after the workshop, the heads of the Ministries, Departments, and Agencies can collaborate to attract donor partners and execute some projects without waiting for the governor’s support.
Some participants, including the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Water Resources, Mr. Mohammed Auwal Ibrahim, and the Director, Planning, Research and Statistics, Ministry of Livestock and Aquaculture Development, Dr. Markus Peter Danbaki, acknowledged the impact of Net Map in attracting partners and fostering relationships with them, calling for regular workshops.
Permanent Secretaries and Directors of Planning, Research, and Statistics from several Ministries, Departments, and Agencies – including Local Government Affairs, Education, Budget and Economic Planning, Livestock Development, and the Adamawa State Emergency Management Agency – attended the workshop.
