The Honourable Minister of Police Affairs Dr. Mohammed Maigari Dingyadi has Tasked people of North East zone to always back up their Complaints of miscoducts of Police with facts and figures.

The Minister said this in his Key note address in Bauchi at a one day sensitisation campaign on the Police Public Complaints Committee (PPCC) activities for the North East zone.

Represented by the Assistant Inspector-General of Police Zone 12, AIG Audu Adamu Madaki, the Minister said the PPCC which has since become operational, but the people need to know more about it.

“The Police Public Complaints Committee, is created as a specialized institution to deal strictly with public complaints against Police Infraction”, he added.

Hammering the need for the public to come up with their Complaints as that will better address the problem,

“It is worthy to note that the aforementioned successes were made possible through actionable intelligence from members of the public, who as partners in progress share our desires and aspirations to maintain a safe and secure environment for all law-abiding citizens in the state and Nigeria in general,

On his part, the Inspector-General of Police Usman Alkali Baba represented by the Commissioner of Police Bauchi State Command Umar Mamman Sanda said,
“It shall be the duty of the PPCC to receive and process all petitions that are addressed to it as its structure is decentralized to ensure that Nigerians have easy access to it”, the Minister said.

According to him, the recent successes recorded by the Nigeria Police force in dealing with disciplinary-related matters such as; extortion, abuse of power, corruption and other unprofessional conduct of officers and men of the force while dealing with members of the public.

The IGP posited that “policemen and their sympathizers have to calibrate the repercussion of their actions first when trying to indulged themselves in unprofessional conduct”.

In his goodwill message Governor Bala Mohammed Of Bauchi expressed optimism that the initiative will bring positive change and restore confidence of some who have lost it due the the activities of some bad elements in the police.

Bala Mohammed represented by his special adviser on general services Hashimu Yakubu said his government is doing all it can and will continue to provide all necessary support to the police, due to the sensibility of security.

Climax of the sensitisation was interactive session where participants were guided on how to lodge thair complaint when any Officer acted unprofessionaly.
