ASUU STRIKE: University Don slams FG over ASUU and COEASU strike, as Northern Students vows to shutdown the region

A University Don in Bauchi Professor Dalhat Bala Sulaiman has blamed the Federal government over the continue closure of institutions across the country.

Professor Dalhat Bala Sulaiman who spoke during a Mega Meeting with Students Leaders, Parents, Civil Society Organisation’s and Clerics on ASUU & COEASU Strike and the way forward.

According to Professor Dalhat Bala Sulaiman, the Buhari led administration has not done enough in addressing the lingering ASUU strike, especially on the issue of revitalisation fund and IPPIS.

He added that, if government will give the needed attention to the education sector like that of the last party convention ,the sector would be improved.

Also speaking, the chairman Academic staff Union of Polytechnic Bauchi state College of Agriculture Chapter Comrade Nuhu Abubakar said academic staff of Polytechnic are faced with so many challenges, citing example with non implementation of promotion and yearly increment by Bauchi state government for the past five years.

He called on students to understand the struggles of the academic staff all over the country as it is not their wish for the strikes to linger unnecessarily.

On his part, the deputy provost Bauchi state College of Agriculture Dr. Shehu Abdulkadir Zailani noted that most of the issues raised by the Unions are genuine but called on both the two parties to be considerate and find a lasting solution for the benefit of students.

According to him, most of those in power enjoyed free education in the past but are now trying to introduce the payment of tuition fees and called on all student Unions to resist the move by all means.

A mother who also graced the event Mrs Briskila Emefesi advised students to learn skills so as to be self reliant as white collar job is no more available.
The converner of the meeting who is the national assistant Secretary general Coalition of Northern group Comrade Ibrahim Abdullahi Soro said the purpose of the meeting is to discuss issues surrounding ASUU and COEASU lingering strike with a view to finding permanent solution.

He blamed the Federal government for the collapse in the education sector, saying that the students will be left with no other option but to take measures that will force the government to negotiate with ASUU.

He called on traditional rulers and Clerics to intervene so as to save the education sector from total collapse.
