Bauchi Assembly vows to improve standard of colleges of Education

The Speaker of the State House of Assembly Alhaji Abubakar Y. Sulaiman, says the house would evolve plans that would improve the standard of colleges of education in the state.

The Speaker stated this at the swearing in ceremony of the Newly Executive Officials of Colleges of Education Academic Staff Union of (COEASU) Adamu Tafawa Balewa College of Education Kangere, held at the conference hall of the college.

Alhaji Abubakar Y. Sulaiman, said the state house of assembly is more proactive to ensure the sustainability of education from basic levels to the higher institutions of learning across the state, for the growth and development of the upcoming generation.

The Speaker who was represented by his spoke person Abdul Ahmad Burra, stressed the need for members of COEASU Kangere branch, to consider themselves as strenth of the college and urged them to live up to the task ahead, for the general development of the college.

Speaking while swearing in the newly elected officials that would pilot the affairs of the union for the period of four years, the National Vice President Colleges of Education Academic Staff Union of Nigeria Comrade Muhammad Bello Umar, charged the elective officers to justify their manifestoes, for the rapid transformation of the institution and the union in general.

Comrade Muhammad Bello Umar who is also the Zonal Coordinator of COEASU, warned the entire members of the union against any sentimental issues, but rather, to unite themselves for the best interest of education in the college and the state at large.

Addressing the sworn in officials, the Provost of Adamu Tafawa Balewa College of Education Kangere Professor Adamu Magaji Yumbunga, called for collaborative working relationship with alI the entire management staff of the college, for better performances.

Speaking while handing over the affairs of the union to the new Chairman, the former Chairman of COEASU Kangere, Comrade Abdulmumini Murtala, enumerated some of the achievements recorded to include, promotion of academic staff, follow up on issues of salary, establishment of business centers, supporting the management of the college in ensuring academic excellence among others and promised to accord the new leadership of the college alI the necessary support to enable it succeed.

In his acceptance speech the newly elected Chairman of COEASU Adamu Tafawa Balewa College of Education Kangere Comrade Aliyu Shu’aibu Babas, revealed that the association under his leadership would map out strategies, that would meet the yearnings and aspirations of the people of thecollege and the union in particular.

Comrade Aliyu Babas noted that the union, would work in synergy with the management staff of the college, towards addressing the issues of un authorized admission in the college by some scrupulous elements, in order to maintain the status quo of the college and development of education in the state.

He said the new Excos would work round the clock to ensure the attainment of the following objectives such as professionalism development workshop and unity of COEASU members, effective utilizations of union’s resources for the yearnings and aspirations of their members among others.

The Chairman however, solicited for the support of his members, to enable him justify the confidence reposed in him.
