Speaker of the Bauchi State House of Assembly has paid the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board’s 2022 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) fees for his constituents.

Speaking shortly after monitoring the enrollment of various beneficiaries of the scheme after the payment at Abubakar Tatari Ali Polytechnic CBT Centre in Bauchi, the Speaker expressed satisfaction on how the students are being enrolled without hitches.

The Speaker who was represented by his Spokesperson Abdul Ahmad Burra, stated that the free JAMB registration scheme for students of Ningi Local Government has been his routine gesture since 2010.

According to him, he has great zeal to boost both basic and tertiary education in the Local Government hence his decision to assist through providing opportunity for many brilliant students in the local government to secure admission into universities and other tertiary institutions.

“There are many brilliant students in Ningi who have great potentials for the State and the country, some of them, due to economic situation of the country, their parents cannot afford the UTME registration, while some of them lack proper guidance and counselling on what to do before and after finishing secondary schools.

“Thus I decided to enhance my educational promotion scheme by partnering with Ningi Students Union (NISU) and Ningi Merit Educational Foundation (NIMEF) to identify these brilliant students, coach and guide them on UTM, DE and other admission opportunities, while on my part, I settle the financial and logistics requirements. This partnership for our educational development of Ningi will continue whether I am in politics or not.” He said.

Speaker Abubakar Suleiman explained that in this year’s scheme 60 students from NISU and NIMEF are sponsored for the examination and all logistics for their registration and transportations to Bauchi for enrollment are paid, and this is in addition to his recent scholarship scheme to some students at various higher institutions and contributions to Tiffi Community Association for Educational Development and 1st Edition of NIMEF’s English and Mathematics Olympiad.

While urging the prospective ‘Ningi Jambites’ to work hard toward equipping themselves with basic knowledge and skills for the examination, he assured them his continued support to education in the Local Government and the State in general.

In their remarks, the Chief Executive Officer of Ningi Merit Educational Foundation (NIMEF) Pharmacist Haruna Hassan and the President of Ningi Students (Union NISU) Comrade Sadiq Ibrahim Bayero commended the Speaker for the patriotic gesture.

According them, the Speaker’s many fantastic educational support intiatives are unprecedented in the Local Government and will in the near future produce many experts and professionals in various sectors of human endeavour from Ningi Emirate.

Some of the beneficiaries who speak, Muhammad Nazifi Yakubu, Nasir Suleiman, Harira Abdullahi, A’ishatu Muhammad, Mustapha Sani and Rahma Hassan, thank the Speaker for providing opportunity for them to pursue their ambition and attain their full potentials.
