Omicron Variant: Bauchi Gov Bala Muhammad flags off Booster dose, directs LGAs to follow suit

Bauchi State Governor Bala Abdulkadir Muhammad has directed all the 20 local government chairmen to flag off the COVID-19 vaccination Booster dose with a view to eradicate the Omicron Variant in their domain.

The Governor made the charge while declaring the commencement of COVID-19 vaccination Booster dose held at the Government house Bauchi.

Represented by the his deputy Senator Bala Tela, the Governor said the state government has received 83,000 doses of Pfizer vaccine from the national primary health care development agency to be used as a booster dose.

He added that Bauchi state has successfully implemented the first and second phase of the COVID-19 vaccination and currently implementing the third phase which is meant for all adult who are 18 years and above.

Bala Muhammad said the World health organization recommended that having additional dose of the vaccine after two initial doses provide protection against strain of the Omicron of Corona Virus.

According to him, the state government has invested huge amount of money for the prevention of the pandemic in the state by establishing and equipping the two standard molecular reference COVID-19 laboratories at ATBUTH and Specialist hospital Bauchi.

While commending the traditional and religious leaders for having trust in government and for supporting the vaccination and other health programs, the governor used the medium to appreciate the support of development partners financial and technical in the fight against the pandemic.

The COVID-19 vaccination Booster dose was administered to the Emir of Bauchi Alh Dr Rilwanu Sulaiman Adamu and other traditional and religious leaders, Secretary to the state government, Chief of staff, representative of various security agencies among others.
