Taraba Governor receives Women for empowerment project a world Bank program on a courtesy call

Governor Darius Dickson Ishaku has recieve the Women for empowerment project, the Governor who received them in his anex office at the presidential Lodge Jalingo applauded their initiatives and pledged to stand by the program.

Women for empowerment project is a programe put in place by the Assistance of the world bank to supoort the growth of women in the society.

The project is targeted to improve the wellbeing of Women in Nigeria and the project is spread in over 6 States in the nation. Speaking the Coordinator of the project said they are on an official visit to all the states where this projects are been run to inspect the progress of the project and its succes and as well to advise appropriately on where necessary.

The Governor responding to the team said he was interested in the women project because he has done much on it and the success rate was and is still much more higher. He sighted a lady by name Aisha who was trained and has today trained more women who are doing very well.

The Governor disclosed that this is one particular aspect which he was mindful of and was happy receiving them and assured them of his maximum support . He said if women are well supported in the society alot of issues that arises in homes will naturally Subsides.

Governor Darius used the hope afresh foundation owned by his wife Barr Anna Ishaku to sight example on how she trains women in short term and are empowered with starter packs.

The Governor stated that he will particularly over see the project and will make sure that the project succeed to it fullest, he agreed with Mr Micheal that most of the women who do the farming doesn’t end as much as those who go ahead of them to do the coastings.

He said he is of the believe that if women are helped they will unlock the hardships in the society. He appreciated them for donating to the state three Toyota Hills vans and a 18 seater Hiace Bus.

The task team leader said over 1900 women affinity group with 45,000 members across three LGs of the state have been developed Financially. The training has made them develop the attitude of saving and they have saved up to N128,85,160 across the three LGs so far he stated.

He futher said they were preparing the women on how to write bussiness plans which will enable them run successful businesses, He said if their bussines plan scales through after putting up one at the end of their trainings, they will be getting a maximum of N60,000 grant per women.

The Nigeria for women project is aim at supporting the Livelihood of women in targeted areas, to build social, innovation and partnership. He said with the financial education on this women it will help them know how to Maximise finance.

The Task team leader Mr Micheal said the project has improved significantly in Taraba state, he said he has come to the realisation that Taraba state is one place where miracles happen. He applauded the Governor for the support rendered to the team and for making sure they attend the level of success which they have.

He said the project is the first stand alone project financed by the world Bank of Nigeria and the essence is to support women empowerment. He said it was initially one per Geo political zone and Taraba was the best in the North East base on the indices used. He said due to lack of time costing, most of the women runs at lost and this is one area that the projects helps in, in making sure they do proper book keeping.
