The Vice Chancellor ATBU, Bauchi Prof. Muhammad Ahmad Abdul’aziz has urged professionals in the construction industry to chart a way of preventing increasing number of building collapse in the country.
He was speaking during the fifth Annual General meeting of National Association of building students, NAOBS held at ATBU, Bauchi.
Prof. Abdul’aziz who spoke through Dean Students Affairs of the university Prof. Usman Sarki decried the recent collapse of a twenty three storey building in Lagos which according to him is a serious challenge to the builders been professionals in that aspect.
The V.C therefore adviced the students to rise up to expectation by acquiring more knowledge after graduation to enable them over come the present day challenges so as to compete favourably with their counterpart globally.
In his remark, the Head of Department Building Technology ATBU, Bauchi Gambo Ibrahim explained that the Annual General Meeting organised by NAOBS was to acquaint the students with the required knowledge on how best to improve their skills for optimum service delivery outside the university environment.
Earlier, the National President NAOBS Mubarak Abdullahi koli expressed appreciation to the Management of ATBU for hosting the event,adding that this was the first time office of the president of NAOBS had emerged from the North East in the history of the Association.
The theme for this year is intelligence in the future of the construction industry in line with building information technology.
