Kano State Deputy Governor Dr.Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna has called for mutual coexistence and peace among the people of the country.
He made the call on Sunday in Abeokuta,Ogun State during the 55th annual maulud commemoration organised by Attoreeqatul Qadiriyya Al-Azeeziyah Islamic Organisation to mark the birthday of Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon him).
He called for peaceful coexistence,love and tolerance among the diverse ethnic groups and adherents of religious faiths in the country.
The Deputy Governor implored on Muslims to imbibe the spirit of unity,love,tolerance and patience in their daily activities as taught by Prophet Muhammad.
“I am happy to be here to celebrate the birth,virtues and greatness of our beloved Prophet Muhammad”.
“When the Khalifa of Qadiriyya told me he is inviting me to this occasion,I immediately inform my leader Governor Ganduje who said even him will gladly love to be at this auspicious event”.
He went on to charge the Muslims to continue to emulate the teachings of Prophet Muhammad and also call on them to be their brothers keepers.
While calling for prayers on the well being and issues bedevilling the country,Gawuna donated the sum of 2 million Naira as support to the organisers of the maulud event.
Speaking the Khalifa of the Qadiriyya Movement in Africa,Sheikh Qariballah Nasiru Kabara explained that the purpose of the gathering is to show love and reflect on the messages and character of the Prophet Muhammad.
He pointed out that the love for Prophet Muhammad will lead Muslim faithfuls to be rewarded with Jannatul Firdaus.
He went on to express appreciation to the Kano Deputy Governor for attending the maulud anniversary.
Earlier in his remarks the Aare Qadiriyya Of Nigeria, Alh.Najimdeen Jumah said the relationship between Kano and Abeokuta dates back to a very long time through people like Late Sheikh Nasiru Kabara who contributed immensely to the development of Islam and left enduring legacies, was very supportive of the historic annual maulud event.
