The Bauchi State Commissioner for Finance and Economic Development, Honorable Modibbo Abdulkadir Ahmed has urged agencies under his Ministry to ensure prudent management of resources by assisting towards improving the economic status of the state.
The Commissioner made the call when he paid a working visit to the Departments and Agencies supervised by the ministy.
In an interactive session with the management and staff of the Board of Internal Revenue Service (BIRS) led by the Executive Chairman, Alhaji Mu’azu Usman, the Commissioner said the ministy is committed to introducing reforms that will enhance the operation of the board.
He assured them for the ministry’s support in the implementation of their tax policies and solicited for their support in taking the state to next level of development through improved revenue generation.
“I am highly delighted to visit you today and extend my hands of partnership and collaboration in improving the economic status of our dear state.”
Briefing the Commissioner on the operations of the Board, the Executive Chairman, Alhaji Mu’azu Usman said (BIRS) is determined to make the state financially sustainable through internal revenue generation.
Alhaji Mu’azu Usman said the Board of Internal Revenue Service’s mission (BIRS) is to generate revenue through the provision of quality and accountable service to taxpayers using a combination of world class technology and a highly professional and motivated workforce.
“Sir you are very welcome to our office and we wish to once again congratulate you on your well deserved appointment as new Commissioner for Finance, we pray that your appointment will be a blessing to not only the ministy, but to the entire state particularly to the internal revenue board.”
While at the Treasury department, Honorable Modibbo Abdulkadir charged management of the directorate to assist the state government in bringing to an end, the challenges associated in the payment of salaries.
“I want to call on you to know that you have responsibility of contributing to tackling numerous challenges we are facing in the payment of salaries. His Excellency, Governor Bala Mohammed is worried about the condition and has taken a bold steps to overcome it.”
The Commissioner who visited Financial Management Unit, Debt Management Agency and the Central Stores Organization enjoined both management and staff of the said organizations not to relent in supporting the administration of Governor Bala Mohammed to succeed in financial management.
The heads of the visited Departments and Agencies described the visit of the Commissioner as a welcome development and first of its kind and promised to support him to deliver on his mandate effectively.
