Kebbi State Governor, Senator Abubakar Atiku Bagudu says Nigeria remains largely peaceful inspite of the pockets of incidences.
The governor said that inspite of unimaginable acts of some few who do not wish the country well, Nigeria, still remained united.
Bagudu spoke on Sunday at the closing of the 2021 Edition of the Argungu Polo Tournament, at NSK Polo Ranch in Argungu where NSK Argungu Polo team defeated Ayutan Polo team.
The governor expresed delight that when many who do not wish the country well, yet Nigeria has remained united and peaceful .
According to him, Kebbi State and Nigeria were on an unstoppable match to greatness.
Bagudu also commended the leading and premier rice milling firm, West African Cotton Company, WACOT, which has continued to add value to the lives of the people of the state.
The Chairman of the APC Governors’ Forum also happily recalled the recent announcement of a whopping additional investments of over N30 billion by the firm and First Bank.
He stated that 3000 women farmers and 18000 women entrepreneurs would be empowered under a World bank assisted programme .
The governor also used the occasion to commend the Medicaid Cancer Foundation under his wife, Dr. Zainab Shinkafi Bagudu for its consistent awareness on early cancer detection and prevention .
Speaking on the tournament , Bagudu said that the 2021 edition was very successful , while the state was proud to host the World Tourism Day , this year .
He noted that the tournament which began some few years back has continued to blossom every year .
Bagudu maintained that Kebbi State and Nigeria were abundantly blessed with rich cultures, festivals and heritages.
The governor extolled the doggedness, resilience and commitment of the Emir of Argungu , as well as all the stakeholders in ensuring the success of the event.
Bagudu pledged that his administration would continue to contribute meaningfully to world tourism.
He also congratulated the Information Minister , Alhaji Lai Mohammed on his turbannig as the Kakakin Kabi by the Emir of Argungu.
The governor was accompanied by
the Chief of Staff, Government House Birnin Kebbi, Alhaji Suleiman Mohammad Argungu, Jarman Kabi, Commissioners, Permanent Secretaries, Special Advisers and some local government Chairmen.
The Minister of Information and Culture who was earlier
turbaned as the ‘Kakakin Kabi by the Argungu Emirate Council was with his wife Mrs. Kudirat Lai Mohammed, management staff of the Federal Ministry of Information and Culture; Director-General of the
National Broadcasting Commission Balarabe Shehu Illelah; DG of
National Commission for Museums and Monuments Abba Isa Tijani; DG of Nigerian Institute for Cultural Orientation Mohammed Ado Yahuza and DG of National Institute for Hospitality and Tourism Nura Kangiwa; Executive Director and National Film and Video Censors Board, Adebayo Thomas.
The host community under the Emir of Argungu, Alhaji Samaila Muhammad Mera, District Heads of the Emirate and the good people of Argungu all graced the colourful and historic occasion as part of activities lined up to mark the World Toursm Day coming up on Monday, 27th of September,2021.
Highlight of the event was presentation of trophies to teams and players who triumphed at the tournament.
