NOA collaborates with FG to train COMOs on the implementation of GEEP in Bauchi State

The National Orientation Agency (NOA) in collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development (FMHADMSD, has organised a One-Day training workshop for Community Orientation and Mobilization Officers to ensure the smooth execution and fast track implementation of Government Enterprise and Empowerment programme across the 20 Local Government Areas of the State as GEEP LGAs Desk Officers.

In his welcome address, the State Director NOA Bauchi, Alh Nuru Yusuf Kobi warned the COMO’s to pay serious attention to the training exercise in order to acquire the requisite knowledge and skills to enable them discharged their duties with commitment, sincerity and fear of God to achieve the desired objectives.

According to him, after the training officers will embark on intensive Sensitization campaign in their communities to encourage the poorest socio-economic groups in their Local Government Areas to participate in the Programme.

Alhaji Kobi said, ” you are going to register interested beneficiaries of TraderMoni, MarketMoni, and FarmerMoni, Then collect and collate the necessary data of the deserving beneficiaries from amongst the poorest and vulnerable individuals and send to the Ministry inform of feedback through the programme coordinators at the State and Federal levels so that their challenges of credits and financial inclusion can be address”.

Nuru Kobi assured the representative of FMHADMSD that the Agency would work assidiously for the realization of this noble objective of the federal government for the sustainability of GEEP 2.0.

The Honourable Minister, Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management, and Social Development, Hajiya Sadiya Umar Farouq ably represented by Ms Aisha Gidado stressed the need for the COMOs to ensure a proactive and holistic interface with critical stakeholders to identify qualify beneficiaries of GEEP in their various LGAs.

She emphasized the need for COMOs to fast track active engagement and effective cross fertilization of idea with traditional rulers, LGA Chairmen and community leaders to leverage on this programme( GEEP)to give special consideration to women, divorcees, youths, orphans, out of school children, persons living with disabilities and artisans who are at bottom of the economic pyramid that are strategically involved in active commercial activities.

The Focal Person, social investment Programme Bauchi State, Hajiya Amina Mohammed Katagun ably represented by Alh. Salisu Sule Maniru Miya express delight for the convocation of NOA COMOs from the 20 LGAs participating in the training for the implementation of GEEP and in turn be the desk officer for the LGAs .

Nothing that the success of this programme would not be complete without mentioning the relentless efforts and support of His Excellence the Executive Governor of Bauchi state Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed CON (Kaura Bauchi) who has been supporting the activities of the National Social Investment Programmes in the State thanking the FMHADMSD for considering Bauchi State among it’s priority .

Also present is the representative of the Director cooperative in Bauchi State Alh Maniru Mohammed Mohammed .

The workshop witnessed presence of Media Organizations in the State. The NTA, BATV, Radio Nigeria and Albarka Radio, NAN, among others.

Highlights of the occasion is the presentation of GEEP register to the trainees by the representative of the Humanitarian Affairs Ministry, Ms Aisha Gidado assisted by the Master Trainer Umar Sarki Yara to COMO’s from the 20 LGAs of Bauchi State as well as questions and answers session.
