Governor Bagudu urges Nigerians to offer suggestions in the ongoing constitution review

Governor Abubakar Atiku Bagudu of Kebbi State wants every Nigerian to exercise his or her freedom of speech by contributing to proposed constitutional amendment of 1999 document.

In a statement by Abubakar Mu’azu Dakingari, Chief Press Secretary,
Government House, said Senator Abubakar Atiku Bagudu gave this verdict in his address at the opening of North-West Zonal Public hearing by the House of Representatives Special Committee on review of constitution held at Birnin Kebbi Centre, comprising, Kebbi, Sokoto and Zamfara states, Tuesday.

The governor emphasized the paramount importance of advancing the interest of the country by those contributing to the debate towards strengthening unity, religious understanding, brotherhood among Nigerians.

He welcomed the action by the National Assembly in ensuring Nigerians make necessary corrections beneficial to societal progress.

Leader of the Northwest Special Committee . Mr. Adesegun Adekoya AbdulMajid, said the members would collate views of contributors from Kebbi, Sokoto and Zamfara states on all issues desirous of amendment in the constitution.

In a remark, the Speaker of Kebbi State, House of Assembly, Sama’ila AbdulMumini Kamba affirmed the support and input of the assembly to the constitutional review for the betterment of all Nigerians.

The Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar said traditional rulers and religious leaders in the country, were to offer necessary recommendations to national issues that would guarantee development of the country, unity and togetherness among the citizenry.

The Sultan advised political leaders at all levels to imbibe fear of Allah and work tirelessly for the growth of the society.

The monarch tasked the government to work hard to restore peace, security, tranquility and economic prosperity nationwide.

Members of the Committee had earlier paid courtesy call on Governor Abubakar Atiku Bagudu at the Government House to intimate him about the purpose of their mission and condoled with him on the fatal boat mishap at Warrah.
