Governor Aminu Bello Masari of Katsina state, has called on the Nigeria Immigration Service to adopt the use of modern technology for effective operations at border posts.
The Governor’s new media aide, Bashir Yau, in a statement said Masari made the call when he received the newly posted Comptroller of the Nigerian immigration Service in the state who paid him a courtesy call at his office.
He observed that physical surveillance on the nation’s borders is not enough considering the prevailing challenges.
Masari disclosed that the services of Nigeria immigration are much needed in curtailing the incessant flow of illegal aliens as well at the proliferation of small arms and amminitions into the country.
He stated that security operatives required more sophicated facilities and highly secured vehicles, with the support of members of border communities for smooth operations.
Earlier the new Katsina state Comptroller of Immigration Service, Abdulrazak Muazu told the governor that sixty six trained officers and men were deployed to patrol targeted border flanks in the state.
