Women Empowerment: FAWOYDI trains 12 CBOs on women participation in politics, Gender based violence in Bauchi

A Non Governmental Organization, Fahimta Women and Youth Development Initiative (FAWOYDI) has in collaboration with action aid commenced training of 12 CBOs in Bauchi state.

Our Correspondent gathered that the training was aimed at increasing the participants general knowledge and skills on concept of Gender Based Violence (GBV), women economic empowerment, justice and women participation in decision making process.

In an opening speech, the Executive Director of the NGO, hajiya Maryam Garba explained that, women have been relegated to the background in terms of politics and decision making process at all levels of government.

She expressed dismay on high rate of gender based violence in the society, urging the relevant authorities to do more in curtailing the menace as well as punishing the culprit to serve as deterrent to others.

Hajiya Garba stated that her NGO with support from its donor partners will not relent in its efforts of ensuring gender based violence is wiped in our society or reduced to the barest minimum.

She appealed to the participants to make use of the knowledge acquired during the training as their respective communities are in their need of the knowledge to enable them occupied their rightful position in the committee of nations.

Our correspondent reports that, participants were drawn from CBOs in Bauchi, Katagum, gamawa and misau LGAs of Bauchi state.
