Governor Bagudu embarks on supervisory tour on schools and colleges, promised more support for education

Governor Abubakar Atiku Bagudu of Kebbi State says all segments of the education sector will receive necessary support and impetus in line with the pursuit of knowledge towards attaining the target objective of learning.

Senator Abubakar Atiku Bagudu was speaking this Monday during a visit to Kebbi State School for special needs Birnin Kebbi in the course of his supervising tour to schools and colleges.

The governor consented to requests of the school on water supply, electricity, additional hostel, renovation of the existing ones, mattresses, teaching and learning materials, school bus, fine arts teaching materials and skills acquisition re-introduction.

The management further requested the government to solve the problems of gully erosion, erection of wall fence, recruitment of teaching staff, more students intake, while beds and beddings would be provided immediately to enable the students concentrate on their studies.

The governor interacted with staff and students, expressing satisfaction about the performance of both teachers and students.

He said the state government would provide required material support to enabling its achieve goal of excellence.

The governor inspected classrooms, e-library, computer room, dining hall, deaf lab, dumb lab, female and male hostels and became delighted about the ability of Mallam Aminu Abubakar Birnin Kebbi blind teacher who operated computer of persons with special impairment that made it possible to communicate with the blind and deaf persons.

He also acknowledged the capability of students in handling various equipment and gadgets of persons with special needs.

Principal of the school Mallam Umaru Aliyu Jantullu told the Governor that students of the institution were drawn from persons with disabilities including crippled, blind, deaf and dumb and performing remarkably well.

He requested the state government to assist the school with modern teaching materials to improve their intellectual ability as well as provide transportation to the school to convey students to and from temporary site to permanent site.

The governor was accompanied on the visit by the Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Babale Umar Yauri.
