Kano State governor, Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, has instructed the
State anti-graft commission to closely
monitor the foreign scholarship
programme and its current position
so as to allay the fears that there is
alleged fraudulent activities going
on in the settlement of scholarship
obligations.

The state chairman of the antigraft commission, Barrister Muhyi
Rimin Gado, made this
known during a press briefing held
at the commission’s headquarters
in Kano.

Rimin Gado said it was a well-known fact
that before the coming of the
Ganduje administration in 2015,
his predecessor, Dr. Rabiu Musa
Kwankwaso had sponsored Kano
state students to study in various
countries, an initiative which
received accolades across board.

The chairman pointed out that it was equally the understanding of the people
that all those sponsored has
their tuition, upkeep and other
necessary financial needs settled by
the government at the initial stage.

He maintained that the present
government of Kano state saw the
need to involve anti-corruption
agency’s to supervise, investigate
and perhaps take charge of the
lingering foreign scholarship crisis
which is becoming so worrisome by the day.
