The Federal Government has been asked to hasten the removal of acting Director General of the Nigerian Institute of Leather and Science Technology, Zaria Dr.Eucharia Ngozi Oparah for over stay in office.

The Acting Director General was said be in office for over 3 years contrary to the stipulated 6 months provided by Federal civil service rules for acting capacity.

Some communities under the auspices of “Concerned Zaria Youth” in Kaduna state has urged the Minister of Justice and Attorney General of the federation to hasten the removal of Acting Director General for total disregard to the terms and conditions of service of the college.

A statement signed and made available to Martaba FM in Zaria by the Chairman and Secretary of the Association, Imrana M.Nasir and Bashir Ibrahim Bomo said despite several patriotic attempts and interventions by respected individuals and organizations, the state of impunity prevailing in the college has continued unhindered.

According to the statement the Acting Director General of NILEST had been on acting capacity since June,2017.

A situation that stagnate the institution from academic growth and crippled student’s progress.

“Presently, students that graduated from the Institute could not receive their certificates because by law the Acting DG is not bestowed with the power to sign their certificates.

“Only substantive Director General can sign students certificates by the college’s rules, hence stagnate students and rendered them idle after completing their studies.

The statement observed that there so many academic and Administrative hipcups and non accessibility by the Institutions simply because as Acting head, the DG’s power is limited.

“Our stand on this protracted lawlessness and the scores of the previous correspondences submitted to your good office is however Advocating for placing the institution in the right direction to conduct it’s official responsibilities and mandate within the purview of law.

“It is however important to mention that the incessant violations of established rules and proceedures governing the selection process of the Chief Executive Officer of the college is by now tarnishing the good image of the institution.” The statement said.
