Thousands of vegetable farmers in Toro Local Government have been rescued from years of hardship and loss following the execution of rural road projects by Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed.
The initiative has opened up access to markets and eased transportation challenges that previously hampered farming activities.
The Katukan Bauchi, District Head of Toro, Alhaji Adamu Umar, disclosed this when he received a team of journalists currently on a media tour of projects executed by Governor Bala Mohammed across the state.
He explained that before the intervention, farmers suffered huge post-harvest losses due to the inability to transport their produce efficiently to neighboring markets.
According to the District Head, the road projects have become a lifeline for the farming communities, who now enjoy easy access to buyers and traders from within and outside the state.
He commended the governor for prioritizing rural development and linking remote villages to larger towns and cities.
Also speaking, the Executive Chairman of Toro Local Government, Pharm. Ibrahim Dembos, warmly welcomed the entourage and described the present administration as the best thing that has ever happened to Toro.
He said the local government has witnessed unprecedented development in infrastructure, health, and education since the inception of Bala Mohammed’s administration.
Pharm. Dembos emphasized that the rural road projects have not only improved farming activities but also enhanced social and economic integration in Toro Local Government. He noted that residents can now move freely, businesses are booming, and farmers are making more profit from their harvests.
