eTrash2Cash, a social impact enterprise, has today paid an advocacy visit to the District Head of Birnin Kebbi Alhaji Ibrahim Sadiq Sa’ad, to introduce a new environmental initiative.

Mohammed Chiroma Hassan, the project lead, alongside other project team were received at the District Head Palace in Birnin Kebbi. He introduced the project team and stated that eTrash2Cash aims to benefit both people and the planet by diverting tons of plastic waste from land and marine ecosystems, while also educating the public on responsible waste disposal and the effects of climate change.

Explaining the purpose of the visit, Chiroma detailed a newly launched initiative in Kebbi State called “Faith For Climate Change Action (#F4CCA).” This initiative leverages the influential voices of religious institutions to serve as climate change champions. In exchange for providing an additional income stream, these institutions help raise awareness among millions of worshippers and facilitate the diversion of thousands of metric tons of plastic waste.

Represented by Community Organizer Ibrahim Saidu Illo, he emphasized that the visit to the palace was to present the initiative, seek prayers, and solicit advice for better implementation of the #F4CCA Project in the State.

Responding, the District Head of Birnin Kebbi who also doubled as Ubandoman Gwandu, Alhaji Ibrahim Sa’ad, welcomed the eTrash2Cash team to Kebbi State, noting the timeliness of their visit.

He maintained that the project concept would undoubtedly change public mindset regarding responsible waste disposal and help reduce youth unemployment.

Alhaji Ibrahim Sa’ad emphasized that the climate change crisis is now a widely recognized issue, with its impacts evident to everyone.

“The negative effects of plastic waste on land are particularly apparent to farmers”, he added.

He therefore urged the team to consider establishing more collection centers in strategic urban locations, beyond just religious centers. He also called on eTrash2Cash to intensify its awareness creation efforts across the nook and crannies of the state.

The visit was witnessed by notable chieftains present at the palace who also prayed for the successful implementation of the project activities in the state.
