Former Nigerian Army Spokesperson Retired Brigadier General Usman Kuka Sheka has identified corruption, poor governance, and unpatriotism as the primary drivers of Nigeria’s security threats.

Speaking at the Maiden Sir Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Memorial Lecture, Sheka urged stakeholders to work together to address these challenges and build a more stable and prosperous future for all Nigerians.

The lecture was organized by the Sir Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Centre for Peace and Security Studies at Sa’adu Zungur University, Gadau.

Sheka emphasized the need for collective action to tackle the country’s security challenges.

“We must work together to build a more stable and prosperous future for all Nigerians,” he said.

“The legacy of our nationalists like Sir Abubakar Tafawa Balewa serves as a guiding light for our country’s development. Let us echo their ideals and values for the benefit of younger generations.”

Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Mohammed, represented by Barrister Hussein Turaki, called on higher educational institutions to develop innovative approaches to promote nationalism, peace, and security in the country.

The lecture provided a platform for discussing critical issues affecting the country and finding solutions to the challenges facing Nigeria.

Sheka’s remarks were seen as a call to action, highlighting the importance of addressing corruption, poor governance, and unpatriotism to ensure national security and stability.
