Bauchi: Rescue Initiative for Sustainable Development Advocates Stakeholders Collaboration To Tackle Human Trafficking.

Rescue Initiative for Sustainable Development, a Bauchi-based Non-Governmental organisation, has advocated for strong collaboration with critical stakeholders in the state to tackle human trafficking in Bauchi state.

The Executive Director of the Rescue Initiative for Sustainable Development, Mr Sulaiman Henna, during a one-day Media Parley on the Merit of Domestication and Enforcement of the Trafficking in Persons Prohibition Law, stated that media, traditional, and religious leaders have crucial role to play in preventing human trafficking, child labour and gender-based violence by reporting any unusual movements within their respective communities.

Head of Operations at the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP), Abdurrahman Abdullahi, during the event lamented the increasing cases of human trafficking in the state.

He emphasised the need for collective efforts from all stakeholders to address the issue.

The representatives of religious organisations, Jama’atu Nasril Islam (JNI), Imam Muhammad Madaki, and the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Reverend Yuhanna Ali, said both religions are against such an act, emphasizing the importance of collective efforts to eliminate the practice.

The Media Parley, was organised by the Rescue Initiative for Sustainable Development, with support from Global Affairs Canada through Plan International Nigeria’s ASPIRE project.
