For six agonizing days, the villages of Gadiya and surrounding communities in Gamawa Local Government Area, including Udubo, have been engulfed by relentless floods. Torrential rains and overflowing rivers have turned these once-thriving areas into zones of devastation and despair.
The scale of destruction is staggering. Homes have been submerged, properties destroyed, and entire families forced to flee with nothing but the clothes on their backs. Stranded on higher ground, these residents face freezing temperatures and hunger, while the community’s resources are stretched beyond their limits.
The lack of immediate relief has exacerbated the crisis. No aid has reached the affected areas, leaving villagers feeling abandoned and desperate. “Our people are in dire straits,” one resident lamented. “We urgently need food, shelter, and medical supplies. Every hour without help is another hour of unbearable hardship.”
The floods have also crippled local infrastructure, making roads impassable and further isolating the already beleaguered communities. Schools and businesses have closed, bringing the local economy to a standstill.
As the situation worsens, the people of Gadiya, Udubo, and other affected areas are pleading for immediate assistance. Without swift action, the long-term consequences could be catastrophic.
Government agencies, humanitarian organizations, and concerned citizens should respond immediately by providing essential relief—food, clean water, medical supplies, and temporary shelter. Additionally, a strategic plan is needed to prevent future disasters and help these communities rebuild.
The time to act is now. The survival and future of these communities are at stake.
