In a landmark move, the Bauchi State Government has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with a renowned cement company, Resistance Cement Company, to establish a massive cement production plant in the state. The project, valued at $1.5 billion, will be constructed in Gwana District, Alkaleri Local Government Area, and is expected to produce ten million tons of cement annually.

The signing of the MoU marks a significant milestone in the state’s efforts to attract foreign investment and boost its economy. The project will not only generate employment opportunities but also stimulate economic growth and development in the region.

Governor Bala Mohammed, who witnessed the signing of the document, assured the company of his government’s commitment to providing an enabling environment for investors to thrive. He also pledged to prevent any encumbrances that might hinder the smooth execution of the project.

The cement company will construct a 100-megawatt electricity plant, a dam, and a truck parking space, among other social amenities, to support the project. This will not only benefit the company but also the host community and the state at large.

The State Commissioner for Natural Resources, Mohammed Maiwada Bello, and the State Attorney General, Hassan El-Yakub, signed the MoU on behalf of the state government, while the Group Chairman of Resistance Cement Company, Abbas Junaidu Waziri, signed for the company.

This historic partnership is a testament to the Bauchi State Government’s resolve to diversify its economy and attract foreign investment.

The project is expected to have a positive impact on the state’s economy and provide a boost to the cement industry in Nigeria. With the government’s commitment to supporting the project, the future looks bright for the people of Bauchi State.
