In a bid to cushion the effects of the economic downturn on its citizens, the Bauchi State Executive Council has approved a range of measures aimed at boosting revenue generation, supporting civil servants, and enhancing service delivery.
According to the state Head of Civil Service, Yahuza Adamu Ningi, the council has approved the review of working days for civil servants from level 1 to 12, whom are now to work for only Three days for the Next Four Months. This move is designed to give them ample time for their farming activities, thereby supporting the state’s agricultural sector.
In addition, the council has agreed to review fees across all public schools in Bauchi state. The state Commissioner for Education, Dr. Jamila Muhammad Dahiru, explained that this move will not only strategize government revenue generation from schools but also align with the current economic realities.
Furthermore, the council has approved the reimbursement of additional capital for the Medical and Consumables Agency. This move, according to the state Commissioner for Health, Dr. Adamu Umar Sambo, will strengthen the agency’s ability to provide quality drugs and consumables to the people of Bauchi state.
In another significant development, Bauchi state has secured a World Bank grant to enhance its epidemiology team. This move is expected to boost the state’s capacity to respond to public health challenges as Supported by the Commissioner Ministry Health Dr Adamu Umar Sambo.
The state Commissioner for Information and Communication, Usman ĆŠanturaki, announced that the council has ratified a new initiative to boost information and communication through the Bauchi State Bureau of Information and Communication.
Consequently, the council has agreed to procure Sogiji Hotel for the benefit of the state. This move, according to the state Commissioner for Housing and Environment, Dallami Ahmad Kawule, is expected to generate revenue and support the state’s hospitality sector.
These measures demonstrate the Bauchi state government’s commitment to mitigating the effects of the economic downturn on its citizens. By supporting civil servants, enhancing service delivery, and boosting revenue generation, the government is taking proactive steps to ensure the well-being of its people.
