In a heartwarming display of commitment to the well-being of others, the Bauchi state Temporary and Volunteer Health Workers Union has decided to opt-out of the planned nationwide protest scheduled for August 2024. This decision was announced during a joint press conference by the union’s leadership, Comrade Tijjani Muhammad Garba and Comrade Aliyu Muhammad Lawal.

The union, comprising over 10,000 members who work voluntarily in primary and secondary healthcare facilities across Bauchi state, cited the importance of their services to the people as the reason for their decision. They acknowledged the efforts of the Bauchi state government in addressing their challenges, including the provision of monthly stipends and absorption into the state civil service.

Bauchi State Commissioner of Health, Dr. Adamu Umar Sambo, welcomed the union’s decision, praising their choice to prioritize humanity over self-interest. He assured that the state government remains committed to alleviating their suffering and addressing the manpower gap in the healthcare sector.

This move is a testament to the union’s dedication to their patients and the community they serve. By choosing not to participate in the protest, they are ensuring that healthcare services continue uninterrupted, putting the needs of others before their own.

The Bauchi state government’s efforts to address the union’s concerns have clearly yielded positive results, and their commitment to working together to address the manpower gap is a step in the right direction. This collaboration will undoubtedly benefit the people of Bauchi state, who will continue to receive essential healthcare services without disruption.
