Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State has described democracy as the Most viable system of Governance for Nigeria that need to be Sustained.
Bala Mohammed made the assertion today in his Democracy message to the State citizens as contained in a statement signed and made available to newsmen by his Media Aide Comrade Muktar Gidado.
The Governor who stated that celebrating the 25th Democracy Day is a testimony to the fact that democratic governance has not only been firmly rooted but has also come to stay in Nigeria, added that there is no better alternative to democracy as a form of government that gives the people the right to choose who to govern them and how they want to be governed.
While highlighting the success of his administration so far, the Governor explained that democracy had given him the legal platform to deliver dividends of democracy to his people therefore described the day as worthy of celebration to both leaders and the citizens.
Governor Mohammed advised that for the gains of democracy to be sustained, the country must break from overreliance on oil as a source of revenue and advice on the need for unbundling the none oil sector especially Agriculture, Mining, Tourism as well as Industrialization.
On the current economic hardship caused by the removal of fuel subsidy the State Government in collaboration with relevant Federal Government agencies has taken appropriate measures by providing palliatives in form of food and nonfood items to bring succor to the people.
Mohammed promised that participatory democracy and inclusiveness would continue to be the hallmark of his administration, and also promised that the trust and confidence that the electorate had reposed in his administration would not be taken for granted.
